As a Fundamentalist Baptist, I am upset by Doug Marlette’s cartoon (Editorial Pages, Oct. 24).
It doesn’t seem so long ago that men feared God and even if they weren’t “religious” they at least had enough sense to respect another’s beliefs. I think that if Marlette had made the same slight toward Jews or any major religion he would not be able to get away with it.
By the way, why are Fundamentalists a common target for ridicule? Well, man in his natural state hates God and the idea of His authority over man. Fundamentalists are a constant goad in the side of those who consistently reject Christ.
