Spin Physics Cuts 30 Workers, Bringing Total Layoffs to 100

Thirty employees have been laid off at Spin Physics, a San Diego-based unit of Eastman Kodak. The job cuts bring to 100 the number of employees laid off so far this year. The layoffs were partly attributed to poor sales of computer streamer heads, a data recording device. The product has been discontinued, a Kodak spokesman said.
Spin Physics, which also makes camera equipment, plans no additional layoffs this year, the spokesman said. The company will retain a work force of about 350.
