Resorts International posted a $7-million loss for the third quarter, contrasted with earnings of $43.5 million a year ago. The Atlantic City, N.J., company said results were hurt by an after-tax loss of $6.1 million from the sale of the company’s investment in Pan Am Corp., while earnings for the third quarter of 1986 included an after-tax gain of $38.3 million from the sale of the company’s investment in U.S. Treasury bonds.
