Duarte : Strategy Panel Organized
The City Council has named Gloria Marold chairwoman of the city’s new Strategic Planning Committee, which will spend the next year setting goals to capitalize on the city’s strengths and overcome its weaknesses. Robert Wight has been named vice chairman.
The committee will have six task forces to tackle everything from education to economics.
Filippo Fanara, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Ed Winkleman, a planning commissioner, will head the economic development task force. Janet Wight , president of the school board, and Jim Trail, a parks and recreation commissioner, will head the task force on education, culture and recreation. Michael Costello of Santa Teresita Hospital and Karen Warren and Andrew Leeka of City of Hope will head the health and medical services task force.
Other task force heads are Angela Esperga, public safety; Carl Marsee, environment and aesthetics, and Caesar Del Rosario, city finance and municipal services.
