The late Woody Herman beat out nine illustrious rivals and was voted “favorite artist†by KLON-FM’s jazz-happy listeners during the station’s recent semi-annual fund-raiser. Listeners chose Herman (who died of heart failure and pneumonia on Oct. 29) over the likes of Stan Kenton, Charlie Parker, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Stan Getz, Jack Sheldon and Dinah Washington.
