A tie against UC Santa Barbara Sunday may have cost Cal State Fullerton’s soccer team a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. tournament as the Titans did not receive one of the five bids from the Far West when selections were announced Monday.
San Diego State, UCLA, Fresno State, the University of San Francisco and Nevada Las Vegas, teams the Titans have defeated this season, advanced to the tournament.
The Titans, who finished the season 11-7-1 and unbeaten at home, defeated UCLA and San Diego State and split Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. games with Fresno State and UNLV. But Fullerton had several letdowns, including losses to Portland, Santa Barbara and UC Irvine.
