‘Remaking the Revolution’
First, I would like to commend you on the excellent series of articles on the current changes going on in the USSR. It is easier to live with the Russians if we can understand them.
One conclusion article was that the U.S. can do little to help or hinder. However, I would like to make a suggestion.
After World War II when international communism was expanding, our country received subversive ideas from them. We should now return the favor. My favorite idea is trial by jury. It is a simple idea. The verdict in a people’s court should be given directly by the people and not by some bureaucratic representing the people.
Furthermore, trial by jury is practiced throughout the world. While this idea may be simple it is revolutionary. If it received substantial support in Russia we could see a true revolution.
