A 4-month-old girl is in critical condition at Children’s Hospital with massive skull fractures after her father allegedly abused her, said Bob George, a public information officer at the Oceanside Police Department.
Travis Hennie, 18, of San Luis Rey was booked into the County Jail in Vista on suspicion of felony child abuse and injury to a child.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oceanside Fire Department paramedics responded to a report of a child not breathing and swallowing her tongue at an apartment in the 500 block of Los Arbolitos Boulevard. According to police reports, Miranda C. Hennie had suffered massive bleeding and skull fractures. She had fluid draining from her right ear when paramedics took her to Tri-City Medical Center.
She was taken by Life Flight to Sharp Memorial Hospital and given medical attention by doctors from Children’s Hospital before being transferred there.
An emergency-room physician told police that the injuries had been inflicted within a 12-hour period.
