SAN FRANCISCO — Archbishop John Quinn has announced he is taking a sabbatical leave because of stress.
Quinn, 58, spiritual leader of 375,000 Roman Catholics in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo counties the last 10 years, left for a “retreat setting” and gave no indication when he would return, officials said.
Msgr. Francis Lacey, the vicar general of the archdiocese, will assume most of Quinn’s duties.
