Nostalgia’s Star, California-owned and bred, won the 51st running of the $462,000 Hawthorne Gold Cup at Hawthorne Race Course in Chicago.

It was only the second win in 12 starts this year for Nostalgia’s Star, which edged second-place Savings by 1 1/2 lengths. Creme Fraiche, the favorite, finished seventh in a nine-horse field.
