Submarine Base Bachelor Housing Gets Under Way
- Share via
Construction is under way on the $8.16-million bachelor enlisted quarters and parking structure at the Naval Submarine Base on Point Loma, designed by Architects/Larson/Carpenter.
The design for the eight-story barracks and three-level parking structure integrates the buildings and the terminus of Rosecrans Street at Ballast Point.
The barracks, being built by McMullan & Sons, provides 70 living units and is designed in a U-shape to conform to a jutting portion of the hillside.
The exterior of the 53,000-square-foot barracks facility uses reinforced concrete block and glass curtain walls. Open walkways on every level allow access to each unit.
