Because of a new ordinance adjusting the terms served by city commissioners, the city has a variety of openings on its five commissions.
Applications may be obtained at City Hall, 1600 Huntington Drive. The deadline is Nov. 23. Interviews will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 1.
The Planning Commission has vacancies for two four-year terms and one two-year term. The commission, responsible for developing and implementing the city’s general plan, meets the third Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
The Traffic and Safety Commission has vacancies for two four-year terms. The commission, which advises the City Council on matters concerning traffic control, meets the first Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
The Parks and Recreation Commission also has vacancies for two four-year terms. The commission, which recommends policies on recreational services and facilities, meets the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
The Cable Communications Commission has vacancies for two four-year terms and one two-year term. The commission, which hears complaints by cable TV subscribers, meets the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m.
The Economic Development Commission has vacancies for two four-year terms and three two-year terms. The newly created commission will advise the City Council on business, industrial expansion and redevelopment.
