The $19-million purchase by OPF Stock Holding Corp. of Sports Specialties, an Irvine-based marketer and distributor of the Pro brand baseball cap, has been completed. OPF, a subsidiary of the Oppenheimer-Palmieri Fund in New York, bought Sports Specialties from MacGregor Sporting Goods, which had acquired the firm just a year ago. Sports Specialties founder David Warsaw and his sons, James and Robert, will be elected to the cap maker’s board of directors and will operate the firm.
