Talk about a serious business lunch. ABC “Nightline†anchor Ted Koppel, whose current contract expires in December, was spotted having lunch with Ted Turner at the Montpelier Room of the Madison Hotel in Washington, reported the Washington Post. ABC News President Roone Arledge said that Koppel has been “kind of shopping around--he’ll have dinner with anybody who has an interesting proposition,†though Arledge said chances are good Koppel will remain at ABC. When reached for comment, Koppel said that “as always, Roone Arledge is exactly right. I’m interested in talking to anybody. Ted Turner is a very charming guy and, as they say in diplomatic circles, we had a useful and constructive conversation,†details of which Koppel wouldn’t reveal.
