Western Novelist Paul Bailey Dies

Paul D. Bailey, 81, who utilized the West of his childhood as a setting in more than 25 novels, died Monday in a Claremont convalescent home.
Born in Utah, Bailey devoted most of his adult life to chronicling the West and the history of the Mormon church.
Among his works were “Walkara,” “For Time and All Eternity,” “Ghost Dance Messiah” and “Gabriel’s Lament.”
He also founded the Westernlore Press in Eagle Rock shortly after World War II, which continues to publish Western books from headquarters in Tucson.
