A mother charged with endangering her infant boy by leaving him with a 10-year-old girl who has mental problems pleaded innocent Friday to the misdemeanor offense.
Brenda McAllister, 24, appeared before San Diego Municipal Court Judge Louis Boyle, who will set a trial date on Nov. 23.
Seven-month-old Ricardo McAllister died Sept. 7 of severe head injuries after his mother left him with a 10-year-old relative.
McAllister was allowed to remain free on her own recognizance.
