Stock Market Crash of 1987

Ever since the 1930s, I have read and been told that the stock market could not crash again; that the government and/or the marketplace had put in place sufficient rules or laws that it just could not happen again. Well, it did.
I would like to know who put out all this propaganda.
Regarding the recent crash, our leader tells us not to worry; that the economy is strong and healthy. Yet he does not mention the budget deficit, the trade deficit or the fact that we are now the number one debtor nation in the world.
I think I’ll read “Alice in Wonderland” again. Maybe then I will be able to believe in the Tooth Fairy.
