Erly Industries has agreed to purchase Kraft’s citrus-processing operation in Lakeland, Fla. Glenview, Ill.-based Kraft is selling the processing and manufacturing operation because it no longer fits with the company’s long-term objectives. The purchase would mark Los Angeles-based Erly’s first venture into the chilled citrus juice market; the company’s principal business is in rice milling and wine. Terms of the transaction, which is subject to board approval, governmental review and completion of financing arrangements, were not disclosed.
