1 Killed, 4 Wounded in Lebanon Explosion
From Reuters
BEIRUT — A land mine exploded near the village of Yater in south Lebanon on Thursday, killing one civilian and wounding four, police said.
The mine exploded in fields near two hilltop positions vacated last week by the Israeli-backed South Lebanon Army militia under pressure from U.N. peacekeeping forces, they said.
The U.N. took over one of the positions but the SLA mined the other to stop local Shia Muslim guerrillas or their supporters from seizing it.
