The Teamsters union has asked to rejoin the AFL-CIO. The Teamsters were expelled 30 years ago after union leaders refused to appear before a special federation ethics committee. AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland said the Teamsters’ application will be considered by the federation’s 35-member executive council Saturday.
