Four Die as Truck Hits Disabled College Bus
SPARTANBURG, S.C. — A tractor-trailer truck rammed a disabled college bus early Tuesday, killing the truck driver, two members of a women’s basketball team and an elderly school security guard traveling with the team.
The accident also injured 13 other people on the bus, which was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 85, officials said.
Sixteen people were aboard the Converse College bus when it broke down and pulled over to the emergency lane of Interstate 85 just outside Gaffney, where it was struck at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, state Highway Patrol Trooper Allan Luker said.
