Retarded Girl Is Left in Airport With Note
Associated Press
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Police on Monday were trying to identify a mentally retarded girl who was abandoned in an airport with a note that read: “God take care of her, because I can’t.â€
The girl, apparently a teen-ager, was found Sunday in a restroom at Springfield Regional Airport, authorities said. The handwritten note was signed, but officials said they could not make out the name.
Police said they planned to contact authorities in Phoenix, because a clipping from the classified ads of a Phoenix newspaper also was found on the girl.
