Maynard Smith Gets Position on Board

Maynard D. Smith has been elected to the board of directors of General Automation Inc., filling a vacancy created when the board was increased from six to seven members.

Smith retired earlier this year from TRW Inc., where he had been general manager of the customer service division since 1976. He will be an industry consultant to various computer-related companies.

In 1960-76, Smith held various positions at Singer Business Machines’ service division and had advanced to vice president of that division when it was acquired by TRW.

General Automation Inc., based in Anaheim, is a supplier of advanced computing products to computer users, retail dealers and original-equipment manufacturers.
