Deputy Transportation Secretary James H. Burnley IV is in line to be named to succeed Elizabeth Hanford Dole as secretary, Administration and congressional sources said. One official said the announcement would be made today. Another said it was expected but might be delayed. A source on Capitol Hill said senators had been informed that the nomination was coming. Mrs. Dole, wife of Senate Minority Leader Bob Dole (R-Kan.), left her post to work full-time in her husband’s campaign for the GOP presidential nomination.
