Republican presidential candidate Pat Robertson acknowledged that his first son was conceived months before his marriage and that he hadn’t previously revealed the wedding date in an effort to “protect his family.” Robertson, a television evangelist who stepped down from his ministry to pursue his presidential ambitions, said in an interview published in today’s editions of the Washington Post that he and his wife Dede always considered March 22, 1954, as the day their marriage started because “our son was conceived on that day.” He said the couple’s legal marriage on Aug. 27, 1954 “to us, wasn’t any big deal.”
