The sale of Rogers Cablesystems’ 20,000-customer cable television franchise to Massachusetts-based American Cablesystems Corp. has been completed. The $28.5-million sale closed Sept. 30, said George Douglas, a senior vice president for American.
The franchise serves Downey, Santa Fe Springs, Bell Gardens, Paramount, Lynwood and La Mirada. Five of the six cities have approved the transfer. The Paramount City Council has given tentative approval and is scheduled to make a final decision next week.
American will offer basic service for $14.95 a month, the same rate charged by Rogers, Douglas said.
American, which is based in Beverly, Mass., with local headquarters in Culver City, previously had franchises serving about 105,000 customers in Bellflower, Carson, Corona, Covina, Inglewood, parts of Los Angeles, Playa del Rey, Pomona, Tustin and Westchester.
