Singer Co., Montvale, N.J., has named William Schmied, formerly president and chief operating officer, to replace Joseph Flavin as chairman and CEO. Flavin died Wednesday at the age of 58 after a short illness. Schmied will retain the title of president. The company did not say who would fill Schmied’s CEO position.
