A court in Lisbon on Wednesday ordered Italian film director Franco Zeffirelli to stop filming scenes in the Portuguese capital for his film, “The Young Toscanini,” because of charges of plagiarism. The Portuguese Society of Authors brought the action on behalf of Brazilian writer Guillerme de Figueiredo, who has accused Zeffirelli of stealing from his works on Arturo Toscanini, the famed Italian conductor who died in 1957. Zeffirelli, who began filming in Lisbon last week, hotly denied the charge. “I am going to finish my work,” he said, “and if the police come to arrest me I can promise you there will be an international scandal.”
