The State : Ex-Chancellor to Face Trial
The former chancellor of the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his wife must stand trial on charges of embezzlement, insurance fraud and tax evasion, a judge ruled. Santa Barbara Municipal Judge Arnold D. Gowans said prosecutors had presented strong evidence that Robert A. Huttenback and his wife, Freda, had used university funds for unauthorized purposes, including extensive remodeling at their off-campus home. Gowans ordered the Huttenbacks to return to Superior Court for arraignment Oct. 28.
