A small company in Scotts Valley, Calif., has introduced a computer software program aimed at usurping industry leader Lotus Corp.’s best-selling 1-2-3 spreadsheet. Borland International Inc. said its new product, called Quattro: The Professional Spreadsheet, offers high-speed number crunching capability along with graphics and an anti-glitch device that protects against the loss of a spreadsheet due to power failure or human error. The program is priced at $195, compared to $495 for the currently available Lotus product, the 1-2-3 Release 2.01.
