A benefit for AIDS victims in Chicago with Angela Lansbury and Oprah Winfrey, among others, drew more than 3,000 people. The two-hour sell-out performance also featured Peter Allen, Colleen Dewhurst, Jerry Herman, Chita Rivera, Leslie Uggams and five Chicago choirs. The benefit was dedicated to Broadway producer Fritz Holt, who helped organize it before he died of AIDS last summer. Tickets were priced at $150, and people who contributed $1,000 or more were invited to a special supper and dance with the stars following the performance.
