HemaCare Corp. Loses $186,000 in 2nd Quarter

HemaCare Corp. in Sherman Oaks lost $186,000 in the second quarter ended June 30, compared to a loss of $17,000 for the corresponding period a year earlier. Revenue in the second quarter was $766,000, compared to $741,000 for the year-earlier period.
HemaCare sells blood products and stores blood. Chairman Thomas Asher attributed the company’s losses to the cost of a marketing study to determine where it should locate four new company outlets.
For the six months, HemaCare lost $304,000 against a loss of $38,349 for the corresponding period a year ago. Revenue was $1.5 million, compared with $1.4 million a year ago.
