Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gary Hogeboom will undergo surgery today to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb and will be out between six to eight weeks, Coach Ron Meyer said. Hogeboom suffered the injury early in the Colts’ NFL exhibition victory over the Houston Oilers Saturday night.
Jack Trudeau, who started 11 games when Hogeboom injured a shoulder early last season, again will be the starter, with Blair Kiel as his backup.
