White House Press Secretary James S. Brady said the federal government’s favorite solution to pressing medical issues is to throw money at the problem instead of getting personally involved. “The bureaucrats throw heaping amounts of money at medical institutes and think it will solve the problems of public awareness,” Brady said. “It’s usually the last thing that cures the problem.” Brady addressed a public symposium sponsored by the Rehabilitation Institute of New Orleans and the Louisiana Head Injury Foundation, of which he and his wife are national spokespersons.
