Cubic Corp.’s Cubic Western Data subsidiary has received a $12.2-million follow-on contract from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority to supply computerized fare collection equipment. Deliveries on the contract, which includes $4.7 million more in purchase options, will begin in 1989 and continue into 1993.
A supplier of the Washington, D.C., transit system since 1975, Cubic Western will produce 253 machines that sell, accept and upgrade subway passenger fare cards. Including this award, the total contract has amounted to 1,700 pieces of equipment for a value of more than $100 million.
