Servite’s Croghan Leads Area Team

Andy Croghan of Servite High School pitched 3 innings of shutout relief to lead the 714/619 area-code team to a 3-1 victory over the 213 team on the first day of the California State Baseball Games on Zupo Field at Lodi.
Jason Moler of Esperanza singled, moved to second on a fielder’s choice and scored on a single by Bubba Smith of Rubidoux to tie the score, 1-1, in the second.
Kevin O’Connor of Cal State Fullerton, Ron Kelly of Mount Carmel and Moler singled to load the bases in the sixth, and Jimmy Edmonds of Diamond Bar singled in O’Connor and Kelly for the winning runs.
The 714/619 team lost, 3-1, to the 707 (Northwest California) team earlier in the day.
