Japanese businessman Kazuyoshi Miura filed an appeal with the Tokyo High Court following his conviction by a lower court and sentencing to six years in prison for trying to kill his wife, Kazumi, then 27, in Los Angeles six years ago. Michiko Yazawa, 27, former actress and Miura’s mistress at the time, confessed that she attacked the wife with a hammerlike object in Los Angeles’ New Otani Hotel because Miura promised to marry her and split a $200,000 insurance payoff with her. Kazumi Miura was only injured then, but died following a Los Angeles street shooting three months later in which Kazuyoshi Miura was wounded.
