Israeli prosecutors have obtained three more identity cards from a World War II Nazi training camp to bolster their case against accused war criminal John Demjanjuk, lawyers said. Demjanjuk’s lawyers contend that a Nazi identity card presented earlier at his trial in Jerusalem is a forgery and have put expert witnesses on the stand to support their position. A prosecution attorney indicated that the additional cards have been supplied by the Soviets with the assistance of American industrialist Armand Hammer. Demjanjuk, a Ukrainian-born former Cleveland auto worker, is accused of being “Ivan the Terrible,” a Nazi death camp guard involved in the killing of hundreds of thousands of Jews during World War II.
