Aerojet was awarded a $432-million contract. The Air Force contract, which went to Aerojet’s Electrosystems unit in Azusa, is for the production of five infrared sensor systems for use on the Defense Support Project satellites. The DSP satellites operate in geosynchronous orbit and are designed to provide early warning of Soviet missile launches.
