Walls Wins Junior One-Meter Diving Event

Kristen Walls, from Monte Vista High School in Spring Valley, finished first in the one-meter springboard competition at the Junior Olympic Zone B Diving Championships Sunday at Beaverton, Ore.
Walls, who finished second to Santana’s Eileen Maul in the San Diego Section championships, had 372.55 points in 10 dives and defeated second-place Wendy Satterlee of Minneapolis by 20 points.
Walls’ victory earned her a spot in the Junior Olympic National Championships, Aug. 21-23 in Irvine. Saturday, Walls finished fourth in the Zone B three-meter competition, allowing her to qualify for the national finals in that competition also.
