A dispute between the United States and Greece that has held up talks on the future of U.S. bases on Greek soil has been resolved, and the talks will go ahead in September, a government spokesman said in Athens. “The crisis has been overcome,†Yannis Roubatis told reporters after a meeting between Michael H. Armacost, U.S. under secretary of state for political affairs, and Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou. The dispute centered on American allegations of contacts between Greek officials and the Abu Nidal Palestinian terrorist group. Armacost was told the allegations were “figments of imagination,†Greek officials said.
