Marlin Fishing: Is It a Sport--or Murder?
I fail to see that the vicious murder of one of nature’s most spectacular creatures, the marlin, can be called a sport, except by depraved, sadistic people who believe that outwitting a fish is a exhilarating experience.
These sportsmen may fish in a spirit of fun, but the fish struggle for their lives with all they have, to end up hung by the tail on the dock crane with some grinning sadist standing next to him.
This is truly a “Planet of the Apes” scene. Why bother trying to make an adventure story out of this cruelty? What kind of individual needs this stimulation to validate his pathetic life?
