A Different Idea, but a Bad One, Too

The shooting off of fireworks from the Santa Monica Pier area at 5 a.m. July 4 received much publicity because it was a different idea; but a different idea does not necessarily equate to a good idea.
Many Santa Monica taxpayers were awakened at 5 a.m. by the loud explosives. I live 20 blocks from the ocean and was awakened. My employer lives in nearby Brentwood and he was awakened.
Construction work in Santa Monica is not permitted prior to 7 a.m. so as not to disturb the sleep of residents. The same noise restraints, including firework exhibitions, should apply to weekends and holidays.
