Groovy, the high weight at 128 pounds, coasted to a 6 1/2-length victory in the $114,000 Tom Fool Stakes at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y.
Groovy, winning the race for the second straight year, maintained his perfect 1987 record with his fourth victory in a row, all for added money.
Sun Master finished second, a neck ahead of Moment of Hope.
Groovy covered the seven furlongs on a fast track in 1:22 2/5 to earn $68,400 for Lone Star Stable. The Texas-bred 4-year-old also strengthened his position as the leading candidate for Sprinter of the Year honors.
Groovy returned $3.20, $2.80 and $2.20; Sun Master paid $4.20 and $3, and Moment of Hope paid $3.60.
