Poindexter, North and the Congressional Committee

In listening to the closing statements of Rep. Louis Stokes (D-Ohio) to North at hearings on July 14, it was difficult to anticipate that yet another summary statement could convey fresh perspective and emotional/intellectual impact. His words, however, provided clear redefinition of the American legislative and judiciary processes. Stokes reminded us that the basic tenets of American government are not outmoded but are, in fact, still honorable, reasonable, and worthy of pursuit however slow and painful the process may be.
