The Nation : Casey Autopsy Monitored

Suspicious senators kept close tabs on dying former CIA chief William J. Casey, monitoring medical reports and the results of an autopsy to confirm he died of natural causes, U.S. News & World Report said. After Casey’s death on May 6, the magazine said, quoting “highly placed congressional sources,” unidentified Senate Intelligence Committee members obtained autopsy information because they were “wary of possible deception.” Casey testified before three congressional committees investigating the Iran- contra affair--and was scheduled for additional appearances--when he suffered two minor seizures on Dec. 15, 1986. Three days later he had brain cancer surgery. His death 4 1/2 months later was attributed to cancer and pneumonia.
