An Ontario man was in serious condition Friday with two broken legs and a fractured skull after his car crossed into oncoming traffic on Laguna Canyon Road and was struck twice head-on, police said.
George Neils Kelsen, 41, crossed into eastbound traffic at the Big Bend stretch of Laguna Canyon Road at about 9 a.m. for unknown reasons, Sgt. Doris Weaver said.
Firefighters had to cut Kelsen free with the “Jaws of Life” device from his pickup, which was totaled, Weaver said. He was taken to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo where he was listed in serious condition.
Michael Ayoub, 35, of Laguna Beach, one of two drivers who collided head-on with Kelsen’s truck, suffered minor injuries and was listed in satisfactory condition at South Coast Medical Center in South Laguna.
