The City of West Hollywood has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to help underwrite the cost of the West Hollywood Civic Center Design Competition, Mayor Alan Viterbi announced Thursday. More than 800 architects and designers from 21 foreign nations and 44 states have registered to submit entries by Wednesday. Five finalists will compete for the $25-million civic center project and $50,000 in prize money. Architect Charles Moore will chair an 11-member jury that will select the finalists on Aug. 1 and 2.
