A jeweler who exchanged gunfire with two armed robbers was fatally shot by the intruders in his Burbank jewelry store Thursday, and police are asking the public’s help in finding the robbers.
T. W. Hamilton, 50, of Chatsworth was shot at 5 p.m. at Creme de La Gem jewelry store at 3303 W. Magnolia Blvd. while attempting to fend off the robbers, Lt. Duane Dow said. He died a short time later at St. Joseph Medical Center, Dow said.
The gunmen escaped injury, he said. They are believed to have fled in a dark green, Jeep-like vehicle with tan trim, Dow said.
“We’d really like the public to check their immediate surroundings and call us if they see any strange vehicle that is a car of this type,” Dow said.
Police said they did not know if any money or jewels had been stolen.
