Saving the Vanishing Forests of the World
- Share via
Your recent articles on global deforestation were informative, and upsetting. I wish I could do something to reverse the enormous economic and population pressures destroying our planets and vegetation. These pressures are also destroying trees in Los Angeles. On a walk the other day, I noticed that a large stand of eucalyptus trees on Glendale Boulevard in the Silver Lake area had been cut down, no doubt to make way for some condos or yet another tacky mini-mall. When they stood the trees softened the urban landscape. They provided shade, aroma, a place for nesting birds and squirrels.
Why couldn’t the developer have spared these trees?
